Late winter and early spring rains promised a good wildflower display this year and the flowers did not disappoint. The photos below include Death Valley National Park, Highway 233 between Arvin and Highway 58, Carrizo Plain National Monument, the Antelope Valley Poppy Preserve and other locations in Southern California.
Some old favorites from various places.
I’m finally getting my work on the web, with thanks to Mark and David for pushing me a bit. I look forward to sharing more with everyone and to keep the passion for exploring the natural world going strong.
My first Denali backpacking trip was inspired by friend and photographer Peter Barrett who coincidentally passed away five years ago today (March 15, 2005) in a tragic kayaking accident near Juneau Alaska. I still think about Peter and the encouragement he gave me when we started out with our 90 pound packs and hanging out in his VW camper savoring hot soup in the driving rain after our trip was over. (Peter carried the 500mm f/4 used for the Moose photos)
